Central Air Conditioner efficiency is measured by the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER). The higher the SEER, the more efficient the unit, the lower your electric bill is each month. Units with a SEER of 13 or above are considered high-efficiency.
The Olympia 38HDR Air Conditioner by Carrier is unique, because of its footprint dimensions, we call it the "slimline" unit.
It offers efficiency performance up to 13 SEER and is the quietest air conditioner/heat pump available. It was originally designed for commercial applications, to run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Therefore, its heavy gauge metal and heavy duty components make the product a superior reliable unit that can be positioned as close as 6 inches away from your home or a wall.
Furnace efficiency is measured by the Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating. The colder the climate, the higher the AFUE you should get. Furnaces with AFUE ratings of 90% and above are considered high-efficiency. Furnaces with AFUE rating of 80% are standard for our climate. A variable speed furnace runs on low stage about 90% of the time and can offer you more consistant temperatures, extremely quiet operation, better air-conditioning performance and lower utility bills year-round.
Heat Pump cooling efficiency is measured by a SEER rating; heat pump heating efficiency is measured as the Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF). A heat pump with a SEER of 13 or higher and an HSPF of at least 8 is considered high efficiency.
